Unit Mission
The Cybersecurity, Data Privacy & Information Operations Policy Unit develops cybersecurity policy frameworks, data privacy regulations, and information operations countermeasures that protect digital infrastructure, democratic institutions, and individual rights. The unit applies cybersecurity law, privacy policy, and information operations research to develop the regulatory and governance frameworks needed to secure cyberspace, protect personal data, and defend democratic discourse from foreign interference.
Key Functions
Cybersecurity Policy
Developing cybersecurity policy frameworks — designing regulatory requirements, incident reporting obligations, and security standards that improve the cybersecurity posture of critical infrastructure and government systems.
Privacy Regulation
Developing data privacy regulatory frameworks — designing data protection laws, enforcement mechanisms, and international data transfer frameworks that protect individual privacy rights in the digital economy.
Information Operations
Developing policy countermeasures against information operations — designing regulatory frameworks, platform obligations, and government response mechanisms that protect democratic institutions from foreign interference.
