Unit Mission
The Conflict & Stabilization Operations Diplomatic Task Force conducts conflict prevention, mediation, and stabilization diplomacy — engaging with conflict parties, regional organizations, and international bodies to prevent the outbreak of armed conflict, facilitate peace negotiations, and support post-conflict stabilization. The task force applies conflict analysis, mediation theory, and stabilization practice to develop diplomatic strategies that address the root causes of conflict, build confidence between parties, and create conditions for sustainable peace.
Key Functions
Conflict Prevention
Conducting conflict prevention diplomacy — engaging with parties to emerging conflicts, facilitating dialogue, and developing confidence-building measures that reduce tensions before they escalate to armed violence.
Mediation
Facilitating peace negotiations and mediation processes — providing neutral facilitation, developing negotiating frameworks, and supporting the parties in reaching agreements that address the core issues driving conflict.
Stabilization
Supporting post-conflict stabilization — developing stabilization programs that restore security, rebuild institutions, and address the grievances and structural factors that could reignite conflict.
