Wildfire Response, Fire-Line Mitigation & Drone Task Force
Combating wildfires through fire-line operations, drone surveillance, and community protection measures.
Unit Mission
The Wildfire Response, Fire-Line Mitigation & Drone Task Force combats wildfires — deploying fire-line crews, drone surveillance platforms, and community protection teams to contain wildfires, protect structures, and manage the complex logistics of large-fire response. The task force applies wildfire suppression, aerial firefighting coordination, and drone technology to conduct fire-line operations, provide real-time fire behavior intelligence, and implement the structure protection and community evacuation measures needed to minimize wildfire losses.
Key Functions
Fire-Line Operations
Conducting fire-line suppression operations — deploying hand crews, engines, and bulldozers to construct fire lines, conduct burnout operations, and contain wildfires before they threaten communities and critical infrastructure.
Drone Surveillance
Deploying drone platforms for wildfire surveillance — providing real-time fire perimeter mapping, fire behavior intelligence, and hotspot detection that guides suppression strategy and protects firefighter safety.
Structure Protection
Implementing structure protection operations — deploying engine crews and applying fire-resistant treatments to protect homes and critical facilities from approaching wildfire, and coordinating community evacuation when protection is not feasible.
