Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) Strike & Robotics Team

Command

Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) Strike & Robotics Team

Locating and extracting survivors from collapsed structures using advanced robotics, canine teams, and technical rescue expertise.

Unit Mission

The Urban Search & Rescue Strike & Robotics Team locates and extracts survivors from collapsed structures — deploying advanced robotics, acoustic detection systems, canine search teams, and technical rescue specialists to find and rescue people trapped in the rubble of earthquakes, building collapses, and other structural failures. The team applies USAR methodology, structural collapse analysis, and rescue robotics to conduct systematic search operations, breach and shore unstable structures, and extract survivors safely from the most challenging confined-space environments.

Key Functions

Search Operations

Conducting systematic search operations in collapsed structures — deploying canine teams, acoustic sensors, and search robotics to locate survivors in rubble, voids, and confined spaces with maximum speed and coverage.

Rescue Robotics

Deploying rescue robotics in collapsed environments — operating ground robots, aerial drones, and sensor platforms to access spaces too dangerous or confined for human rescuers, extending search reach and reducing rescuer risk.

Technical Extraction

Executing technical rescue extractions — breaching and shoring unstable structures, managing victim packaging, and coordinating the medical handoff needed to safely extract survivors from complex structural collapse environments.
