Pollution Burden & At-Risk Communities Analytics Task Force
Analyzing pollution burdens on at-risk communities to advance environmental justice and targeted remediation.
Unit Mission
The Pollution Burden & At-Risk Communities Analytics Task Force analyzes pollution burdens on at-risk communities — conducting environmental justice assessments, mapping cumulative pollution exposures, and developing the analytical frameworks needed to identify communities facing disproportionate environmental health burdens and prioritize remediation and regulatory action. The task force applies environmental justice, epidemiology, and spatial analysis to produce the evidence needed to advance equitable environmental protection and direct resources to the communities most harmed by pollution.
Key Functions
Burden Mapping
Mapping cumulative pollution burdens — integrating air quality, water contamination, hazardous waste, and socioeconomic vulnerability data to identify communities facing disproportionate environmental health burdens.
Health Impact Analysis
Analyzing pollution health impacts on at-risk communities — assessing the relationships between pollution exposures and health outcomes to quantify the health burden borne by environmentally overburdened communities.
Equity Advocacy
Advancing environmental equity — using pollution burden analysis to advocate for prioritized remediation, strengthened regulation, and equitable environmental protection for communities facing disproportionate pollution impacts.
