Command

Mass Care, Emergency Sheltering & Feeding Logistics Unit

Providing mass care, emergency shelter, and feeding operations for disaster-displaced populations at scale.

Unit Mission

The Mass Care, Emergency Sheltering & Feeding Logistics Unit provides mass care, emergency shelter, and feeding operations for disaster-displaced populations — managing the large-scale logistics of sheltering, feeding, and caring for thousands of displaced people in the immediate aftermath of disasters. The unit applies mass care standards, shelter management, and food service logistics to establish and operate emergency shelters, deliver hot meals and food packages, and provide the basic care services that displaced populations need to survive and recover.

Key Functions

Shelter Operations

Establishing and managing emergency shelters — selecting sites, setting up facilities, managing population flow, and operating the shelter systems that provide safe, dignified accommodation for disaster-displaced populations.

Mass Feeding

Operating mass feeding programs — managing food procurement, preparation, and distribution to provide nutritious meals to displaced populations at the scale and speed that disaster response demands.

Population Registration

Registering and tracking displaced populations — collecting demographic information, identifying special needs, and maintaining the population records needed to plan services and facilitate family reunification.
