Unit Mission
The Livelihoods & Humanitarian Relief Economic Unit restores livelihoods and economic stability for disaster-affected communities — designing and implementing cash transfer programs, livelihood restoration initiatives, and economic recovery interventions that help households and communities rebuild their economic foundations after disaster. The unit applies livelihoods programming, cash and voucher assistance, and economic recovery to provide the financial resources and economic support that enable disaster survivors to meet their needs and rebuild their productive capacity.
Key Functions
Cash Assistance
Designing and implementing cash and voucher assistance programs — providing disaster-affected households with the financial resources needed to meet their immediate needs and begin rebuilding their livelihoods.
Livelihood Restoration
Implementing livelihood restoration programs — supporting the recovery of agricultural, commercial, and wage-based livelihoods through asset replacement, skills training, and market linkage support.
Economic Assessment
Conducting economic needs assessments — analyzing the economic impacts of disasters, assessing household and community recovery needs, and developing the evidence base needed for effective economic recovery programming.
