Unit Mission

The Infrastructure Restoration & Lifeline Utilities Recovery Task Force restores lifeline utilities and critical infrastructure after disasters — deploying engineering teams, equipment, and logistics to repair power systems, water supply, transportation networks, and communications infrastructure damaged by disasters. The task force applies infrastructure engineering, utility restoration, and disaster recovery to prioritize and execute the infrastructure repairs needed to restore essential services and enable community recovery.

Key Functions

Utility Restoration

Restoring lifeline utilities after disasters — deploying engineering teams to repair power systems, water supply, and wastewater infrastructure, prioritizing restoration based on public health impact and community recovery needs.

Transportation Restoration

Restoring transportation infrastructure — repairing roads, bridges, and airports damaged by disasters to restore access for response operations and enable community recovery.

Damage Assessment

Conducting infrastructure damage assessments — evaluating the extent and severity of infrastructure damage to prioritize restoration efforts and develop the cost estimates needed for recovery planning and funding.
