Unit Mission
The Infrastructure Collapse Response & Structural Team responds to infrastructure collapses — deploying structural engineers, USAR specialists, and emergency stabilization teams to assess collapsed infrastructure, conduct rescue operations, and implement the emergency stabilization measures needed to prevent secondary collapses and restore critical services. The team applies structural engineering, collapse rescue, and infrastructure emergency management to respond to bridge collapses, building failures, and other critical infrastructure failures.
Key Functions
Collapse Assessment
Assessing collapsed infrastructure — deploying structural engineers to evaluate collapse extent, identify rescue priorities, and assess the secondary collapse risks that must be managed to protect rescuers and survivors.
Emergency Stabilization
Implementing emergency structural stabilization — deploying shoring, bracing, and temporary support systems to stabilize collapsed structures and prevent secondary collapses during rescue operations.
Service Restoration
Coordinating emergency infrastructure restoration — implementing bypass routes, temporary repairs, and emergency service restoration measures to restore critical infrastructure functions as rapidly as possible after collapse.
