Unit Mission

The Environmental Engineering & Hydro-Infrastructure Lab engineers water infrastructure and environmental systems — designing flood control structures, water treatment systems, and environmental engineering solutions that withstand disaster and protect public health. The laboratory applies environmental engineering, hydraulic engineering, and water resources to develop the infrastructure designs and engineering standards needed to protect communities from flooding, ensure safe water supply, and manage environmental hazards.

Flood Control Engineering

Engineering flood control infrastructure — designing levees, floodwalls, detention basins, and channel improvements that protect communities from flooding while managing environmental impacts.

Water System Design

Designing resilient water and wastewater systems — engineering water treatment, distribution, and wastewater management infrastructure that maintains function under disaster conditions and protects public health.

Stormwater Management

Developing stormwater management solutions — designing green infrastructure, detention systems, and drainage networks that manage stormwater runoff, reduce flood risk, and improve water quality.
