Unit Mission
The Cyber-Physical Systems & IoT Hardware Security Unit secures cyber-physical systems and IoT hardware in critical infrastructure — assessing vulnerabilities in industrial control systems, SCADA networks, and IoT devices, and developing the security architectures needed to protect critical infrastructure from cyber and physical attack. The unit applies industrial cybersecurity, hardware security, and cyber-physical systems engineering to identify and mitigate the security risks that arise at the intersection of digital and physical systems in critical infrastructure.
Key Functions
ICS Security
Assessing and securing industrial control systems — evaluating SCADA networks, PLCs, and HMI systems for cyber vulnerabilities and implementing the security controls needed to protect critical infrastructure operations from cyber attack.
IoT Security
Securing IoT hardware in critical infrastructure — analyzing IoT device security, identifying hardware vulnerabilities, and developing the security architectures needed to protect connected devices from exploitation.
Cyber-Physical Protection
Developing cyber-physical security architectures — designing integrated security systems that address both cyber and physical attack vectors, protecting critical infrastructure from the full spectrum of threats at the cyber-physical interface.
