The Chemical Spill & Toxic Release Containment Unit contains chemical spills and toxic releases — deploying containment specialists, environmental monitors, and cleanup teams to stop chemical releases, prevent environmental contamination, and protect public health from toxic exposure. The unit applies chemical spill response, environmental protection, and public health to conduct the rapid containment operations needed to minimize the environmental and health impacts of industrial chemical accidents and transportation incidents.

Source Control
Controlling chemical spill and toxic release sources — deploying containment teams to stop or reduce releases at the source, implementing plugging, patching, and overflow containment measures to prevent further environmental contamination.
Environmental Monitoring
Monitoring environmental contamination from chemical spills — deploying air, water, and soil monitoring systems to track contamination spread, assess environmental impacts, and guide protective action decisions.
Cleanup Coordination
Coordinating chemical spill cleanup operations — managing the remediation of contaminated soil, water, and infrastructure, and coordinating with regulatory agencies to ensure cleanup meets environmental protection standards.
