Unit Mission
The Agricultural Resilience & Soil Testing Field Team builds agricultural resilience — conducting soil health assessments, testing climate-adaptive farming practices, and developing the agronomic guidance needed to help farming communities maintain food production under climate stress. The team applies soil science, agronomy, and climate adaptation to assess soil health, identify degradation, and develop the soil management and farming system adaptations needed to sustain agricultural productivity in the face of climate change and extreme weather.
Key Functions
Soil Assessment
Conducting soil health assessments — analyzing soil physical, chemical, and biological properties to evaluate soil health, identify degradation, and develop the soil management recommendations needed to restore and maintain productive soils.
Adaptive Practices
Developing climate-adaptive farming practices — testing and promoting drought-resistant varieties, conservation tillage, cover cropping, and other practices that maintain agricultural productivity under climate stress.
Farmer Training
Training farmers in resilient agricultural practices — delivering practical extension services that build farmer capacity to implement soil health management, water conservation, and climate adaptation practices.
