Research Mission

The Zoology & Keystone Species Population Dynamics Unit monitors and models the population dynamics of keystone species — those whose presence or absence has disproportionate effects on ecosystem structure and function. The unit conducts field surveys, applies population modeling, and investigates the ecological interactions that determine keystone species abundance — generating the scientific basis for conservation interventions that maintain ecosystem integrity.
