Advancing the science of trauma medicine and hemorrhage control to reduce preventable death from injury.

Research Mission

The Trauma Medicine & Hemorrhage Control Research Team conducts applied research to advance the science of trauma care — with particular focus on hemorrhage control, coagulopathy management, and damage control resuscitation. The team investigates the physiological mechanisms of traumatic injury and hemorrhagic shock, evaluates novel hemostatic agents and resuscitation strategies, and develops the evidence base for trauma care protocols that reduce preventable death in both military and civilian settings.

Key Research Functions

Hemorrhage Control Research

Investigating the physiology of hemorrhagic shock and developing novel hemostatic agents and techniques that control life-threatening bleeding in trauma patients — particularly in austere environments without immediate surgical access.

Resuscitation Science

Advancing the science of damage control resuscitation — evaluating blood product ratios, resuscitation endpoints, and adjunct therapies that optimize outcomes for severely injured patients.

Protocol Development

Translating trauma research findings into evidence-based clinical protocols for austere and resource-limited environments — building the practical guidance that saves lives at the point of injury.
