Research Mission

The Pharmacology & Advanced Therapeutics Discovery Unit conducts drug discovery and development research targeting infectious diseases, trauma conditions, and other global health priorities. The unit applies target-based and phenotypic screening approaches to identify lead compounds, characterizes pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties, and advances promising candidates through preclinical development — building the therapeutic pipeline needed to address unmet medical needs in DARAS's operational contexts.

Key Research Functions

Drug Discovery

Conducting target-based and phenotypic drug discovery campaigns to identify lead compounds with activity against infectious disease pathogens, trauma-related conditions, and other DARAS priority targets.

Preclinical Development

Advancing lead compounds through preclinical development — characterizing pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and safety profiles to build the data package needed for clinical translation.

Drug Repurposing

Systematically evaluating approved drugs and clinical candidates for repurposing against DARAS priority targets — accelerating therapeutic development by leveraging existing safety and pharmacology data.
