Research Mission

The Molecular & Cellular Biology Laboratory conducts foundational research into the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying biological processes — from gene expression and protein function to cell signaling and metabolic regulation. The lab provides the mechanistic understanding that underpins applied research across DARAS's biological programs, generating the basic science insights that translate into therapeutic targets, diagnostic tools, and biotechnological applications.

Mechanistic Research

Conducting rigorous mechanistic research into the molecular and cellular processes that govern biological function — generating the foundational knowledge that enables applied research across DARAS biological programs.

Gene Editing

Applying CRISPR-Cas9 and related gene editing technologies to investigate gene function, model disease states, and develop genetic tools for therapeutic and biotechnological applications.

Translational Interface

Bridging basic molecular and cellular findings to applied research programs — identifying therapeutic targets, biomarkers, and mechanistic insights with direct relevance to DARAS mission priorities.
