Research Mission

The Immunology & Host-Pathogen Interaction Lab investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms of immune response to pathogens — characterizing how the immune system recognizes, responds to, and remembers infectious threats. The lab generates the immunological understanding needed to design effective vaccines, immunotherapies, and immune-modulating interventions, with particular focus on pathogens of global health security concern.

Key Research Functions

Immune Response Characterization

Characterizing innate and adaptive immune responses to pathogens at the molecular and cellular level — identifying the immune correlates of protection that guide vaccine and immunotherapy design.

Vaccine Immunogenicity

Assessing the immunogenicity of vaccine candidates — measuring antibody responses, T cell activation, and memory formation to predict protective efficacy and optimize vaccine formulations.

Immune Evasion Research

Investigating the mechanisms by which pathogens evade host immune responses — identifying vulnerabilities that can be exploited by vaccines and immunotherapies to overcome immune evasion.
