Research Mission
The Epidemiology & Systems Biology Analytics Team integrates epidemiological surveillance data with systems biology modeling to understand disease dynamics at population scale. The team develops computational models that capture the complex interactions between pathogens, hosts, and environments — generating predictive insights that inform outbreak response, intervention design, and health system planning across DARAS's global health security programs.
Key Research Functions
Surveillance Analytics
Analyzing epidemiological surveillance data to characterize disease burden, identify transmission patterns, and detect early signals of emerging outbreaks — providing the situational awareness needed for timely response.
Systems Modeling
Developing systems biology models that integrate molecular, cellular, and population-level data to understand disease dynamics across scales — from within-host infection kinetics to population-level transmission.
Intervention Modeling
Modeling the effectiveness of public health interventions — vaccination, treatment, non-pharmaceutical measures — to optimize response strategies and allocate resources for maximum health impact.
