Research Mission
The Environmental Engineering & Hydro-Infrastructure Lab designs and evaluates water supply, wastewater treatment, and stormwater management infrastructure — applying environmental engineering principles to ensure safe, reliable water services and protect receiving water quality. The lab conducts hydraulic modeling, water quality analysis, and infrastructure design for both conventional and resource-constrained settings, supporting DARAS's water security and environmental protection programs.
Key Research Functions
Hydraulic Infrastructure Design
Designing water supply and distribution systems, dams, weirs, and flood control infrastructure — applying hydraulic engineering principles to ensure reliable water delivery and flood protection under current and projected climate conditions.
Water Treatment Engineering
Designing and optimizing water and wastewater treatment processes — conventional and advanced treatment trains — that achieve safe water quality standards in both centralized and decentralized infrastructure contexts.
Low-Cost Infrastructure
Developing low-cost, maintainable water infrastructure solutions for resource-limited settings — applying appropriate technology principles to design systems that communities can operate and maintain without specialized technical support.
