Research Mission
The Electrochemistry & Hydrogen Fuel Cell Engineering Unit develops hydrogen fuel cell systems and electrochemical technologies for clean, efficient, and resilient power generation. The unit conducts research spanning electrocatalyst development, membrane electrode assembly engineering, and system integration — advancing fuel cell technology for applications from portable power and vehicle propulsion to stationary backup power and off-grid energy supply in humanitarian operations.
Key Research Functions
Electrocatalyst Development
Developing high-performance electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction and hydrogen oxidation reactions — advancing platinum group metal-free and low-loading catalyst systems that reduce cost while maintaining fuel cell performance.
System Integration
Integrating fuel cell stacks with hydrogen storage, thermal management, and power conditioning systems — developing complete fuel cell power systems optimized for DARAS's operational power requirements.
Hydrogen Production
Developing electrolyzer systems for green hydrogen production from renewable electricity — advancing proton exchange membrane and alkaline electrolysis technology for distributed hydrogen generation in off-grid settings.
