Research Mission
The Cyber-Physical Systems & Critical Infrastructure Security Lab investigates the security of cyber-physical systems — industrial control systems, SCADA networks, smart grid infrastructure, and other systems where cyber compromise can cause physical harm. The lab conducts vulnerability research, develops detection and protection technologies, and designs secure architectures for critical infrastructure — providing the cyber-physical security expertise needed to protect the systems that underpin modern society.
Key Research Functions
Vulnerability Research
Conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing of industrial control systems and critical infrastructure — identifying security weaknesses before adversaries can exploit them and developing effective mitigations.
Anomaly Detection
Developing anomaly detection systems for cyber-physical environments — applying machine learning and physics-based models to identify cyber intrusions and malicious commands that deviate from normal operational patterns.
Secure Architecture
Designing secure architectures for critical infrastructure systems — applying defense-in-depth principles, network segmentation, and zero-trust concepts to reduce attack surface and limit the impact of successful intrusions.
