Research Mission
The Autonomous Systems & Swarm Logic Control Laboratory develops the algorithms, architectures, and control frameworks that enable autonomous systems to operate individually and collectively in complex, contested environments. The laboratory investigates swarm coordination, emergent behavior, distributed decision-making, and human-autonomy teaming — building the foundational engineering that underpins DARAS's autonomous systems programs across aerial, maritime, and terrestrial domains.
Key Research Functions
Swarm Algorithm Development
Designing and validating swarm coordination algorithms that enable large numbers of autonomous agents to collectively accomplish complex tasks — applying bio-inspired and optimization-based approaches to distributed coordination.
Autonomous Decision-Making
Developing decision-making architectures for autonomous systems operating in dynamic, partially observable environments — integrating perception, planning, and execution in systems that maintain mission effectiveness under uncertainty.
Human-Autonomy Integration
Engineering human-autonomy teaming frameworks that optimize the division of labor between human operators and autonomous systems — maintaining meaningful human control while leveraging autonomous capabilities for speed and scale.
